We must be crazy
Not many Christians in the world will tell you they expected the life they have chosen to be an easy one. In fact, many of them will tell you it has been a hard life because of the ridicule and persecution they have had to suffer as well as the sacrifices they have had to make. They will tell you, however, that no matter what hardships they will have to endure, it will all be worth it in the end when they receive their home in heaven. They live this difficult life for something they have never seen. They must be crazy.
Christians get to have no fun whatsoever. When everyone else from work is out at the local bar enjoying themselves and winding down after a long, hard day, Christians are usually at home with their family. When Saturday night comes and everyone else is out partying and dancing, Christians are probably at home looking over their lesson for tomorrow morning’s Bible class. They work so hard on this thing they call "salvation" and miss out on the really fun parts of life. Sure, drinking and dancing may not be the most "moral" of activities, but there are people doing worse right? Christians must be crazy.
Their kids suffer too. Christians won’t let their kids listen to music with foul language or let them watch movies and television shows with sex and violence in them even though that is what the "real world" is all about. Christians would rather teach their kids themselves than let the experts do it. Sure, their kids look happy, but its common sense that if you are too strict on your kids they aren’t going to like you. Christians are robbing their children of important character-building experiences. They must be crazy.
To many people in the world, I’m sure we do seem crazy. We put our trust in someone we have never seen and we do things that seem strange to those who don’t know God. Though it may seem that we are completely missing out on everything the world has to offer, we know who we are. We don’t partake in many worldly things because we are commanded to take care of ourselves (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). We try our best to live as God has commanded us because we know there will be a reward for those who faithfully serve Him (2 Timothy 4:7-8). We teach our children how to become adults according to the word of God rather than the media so they will know how to behave when they have a family of their own (Colossians 3:18-21). People of the world will look at us and wonder why we do what we do, and many of them will most likely think we are crazy. I suppose we could be like everyone else, but then we would have to choose the world over God and that truly would be crazy.
